As far as I remember it's FORMER headquarter, later the officer club/theater. In 80s headquarter was located on other side of bay (don't means other side of Colskiy gulf) Take a look
  • Seaman Alesha Memorial, Jeff (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Alesha stands at the confluence of Severmorsk's three major streets Sgibnev, Dushenov and Safonov (which leads up to Northern Fleet HQ). The Memorial cannon mentioned in the above description is actually just to the west.

It is a museum, ship models inside with annotations. You can view surrounding environment with its original periscope.

Jeff: I think you are right...from the layout of the terrain, I would give it a better than 80 percent chance just by looking at the significance of the structure and its location. Good catch.
  • K-21 'Katyusha' WWII era submarine, Jeff (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
This the K-21 Katyusha submarine commanded during WWII by N.A. Lunin (Hero of the Soviet Union). The submarine is part of the Courage Square (Ploshchad Muzhestva) memorial complex which also has an IL-4 bomber and the TK-12 motor torpedo boat. I've marked both of those on the map as well. Great pictures can be found of these various memorials with Google Image - keyword: "severomorsk"
